A quick and easy ketogenic chocolate mousse with hints of hazelnut.

Take 10 minutes to whip up this silky ketogenic chocolate mousse. In this recipe you get to curb sugar cravings, satisfy your love for chocolate and fuel yourself with a potassium rich source of healthy fats.

Avocado gives a thick, creamy texture that is enhanced by the cream. You can use dairy or coconut cream, consider which you have available and on hand. Of course, if you don’t tolerate dairy well – enjoy the coconut!

Dairy-Free Keto Options

In general, it’s pretty easy to adapt my keto recipes and make them dairy-free. Unfortunately, I can’t say this across the board. Some people really like their cheesecakes with whipped cream! All most all of the recipes in The Ketogenic Edge Cookbook are dairy-free. Those that do contain dairy are easily adapted by using coconut oil instead of butter or omitting a sprinkling of cheese on top. In the companion cookbook, The Ultimate Guide to Low-Carb Baking, I teach how to modify dairy containing recipes and make them dairy-free. I also created a number of recipes like Whipped Coconut Cream Frosting and Dairy-Free Coconut Cream Cheese Frosting to help those who prefer not to use dairy products and may need replacements for whipped cream and cream cheese frostings. This simple Dairy-Free Keto Icing is one of my favorite options for decorating ketogenic brownies, cupcakes and cakes.

Staying Sugar-Free

LAKANTO’s powdered Monkfruit sweetener is my first choice as a keto-friendly sweetener for all homemade chocolate recipes. I prefer the powdered combination of monkfruit and erithrytol over whole erithrytol. I find the powdered sweetener is more easily combined into the cacao mixture, sometimes the whole crystals do not completely mix in and leave a slightly crunchy texture.

Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
  2. Add optional toppings like whipped cream, fresh berries and cacao nibs as desired. Serve immediately or chill for 30 minutes to make for firm before serving.
